Ans: Universal Point Needle; it’s used for everyday sewing purposes especially with woven and knit fabrics. There are varies size needles but most popular sizes are 14/90 and 11/75.

Flat Knit machine needle; it’s used for flat knitting and size are also varies 3gg, 5gg, 7gg, 9gg, 12gg, 14gg.

10. What is denotation of SPI?
Ans: Stitch per Inches. 

11. What will be minimum neck stretch required for kid’s/Ladies/Men’s garments?
Ans: Kid’s = 26 cm, Ladies = 29 cm, Men’s = 33 cm

12. What is seam slippage and how will you control in production?

Ans: When the seam is under some transverse strain, then displacement of the stitch relative to one or more of the fabrics can occur. This is called seam slippage. To improve seam slippage – 

a. Seam slippage depends upon the stitch rate, so higher stitch rate will increase the grip, hence minimize seam slippage.

b. Increasing seam allowance will reduce seam slippage.

c. Seam slippage frequently occur by single needle stitch, then can try with double needle stitch.

d. Sewing with interlining fabric or fusible tape along the seam-line on seams that will help to reduce seam slippage.

e. Tight stitch will reduce seam slippage because a tighter stitch will more grip of fabric.

f. Make sure the stitch is properly balanced with the minimum thread tensions.

13. As per BS standard what will be the wash care label placement for tops / jackets / shirts / pants / dress / skirts?
